Grid Player Tablet

Portable communication on a dynamic touch screen tablet.

Grid Player Tablet is a new dynamic display tablet that enables you to use resources from The Grid 2 to speak clear messages everywhere you go. It is lightweight with a bright touchscreen display, and lasts a long time on a charge to keep you in the conversation all day long.

The Grid 2 software is used to do any editing or to create communication resources for use on Grid Player Tablet. You create and modify vocabulary pages on your Windows computer using The Grid 2, and save the pages in the cloud in a free, on-line account used to synchronize with your tablet any time it is connected to a Wi-Fi hot spot. That way you never have to take the device away from the user to update pages, and all support staff modify a single page set, eliminating multiple versions.

Online Grids

Users will need to create an account on the Sensory Software Online Grids site in order to upload/download resources. This account is free, secure, and confidential. Only people with the username and password have access to the stored pages. But the good news is that all people assigned to update vocabulary are working on the same pages for the user.

Grid Player is dedicated communication software so many of the commands from The Grid 2 will not work. The Grid 2 includes a ‘Compatibility Mode’ where only compatible commands will be available to help you edit easily.

Speaking new messages is as easy as can be. Grid Player Tablet includes both standard text and symbol prediction. It will learn words as they are used and more commonly selected words will appear higher up in the list of prediction cells. As well as completing the word currently being typed, Grid Player will also predict the next word in your sentence.

Which symbols can I use with Grid Player Tablet?

Grid Player currently supports the same symbol libraries as The Grid 2 - SymbolStix, Widgit, PCS, and the Sensory Software Snaps photo library. If the symbol library requires a license then this must be entered when signed into Online Grids. This means the user can input messages from text-based keyboards and/or with symbols or pictures, depending on their level of literacy. As the user progresses so can the Grid Player Tablet.

Which voices are available?

High quality, natural sounding Acapela voices are included with The Grid 2 and Grid Player Tablet. Choose from a number of male, female, and children voices.
